Ceremony Guidelines

Our ceremonies here at Corazon de Acero are held with reverence and respect for the medicine, the participants, and for the Creator of All. With this being said, we adhere to guidelines that serve all of the above and allow for the ultimate flourishing of each individual who sits with us. Each person is in their own process and it is paramount that we give them the space and freedom to experience what the medicine is bringing forth, as long as they are not harming themselves or others in the circle. Our ceremony guidelines are in place to keep the ceremony space clean and safe for everyone involved and are as follows:

Nonnegotiable

  1. Refrain from any physical contact with other participants during the ceremony

  2. Please honor noble silence throughout the ceremony until it is time to speak in the prayer circle.

  3. Do not touch the instruments or attempt to play music while the ceremony is taking place. The live music heavily influences the ceremony and is reserved for those guiding the journey.

  4. Do not touch anything on the alter during ceremony. The mesa is the energy center of the ceremony. You will be allowed to put items on the alter before ceremony commences.

  5. Do not throw anything into the ceremony fire unless it is a natural offering of tobacco/flowers/herbs etc.

  6. Please refrain from eating during the ceremony unless we bring out small snacks. Your stomach will thank you.

  7. Please stay in the ceremony space at all times. If you feel you need to leave for any reason other than using the restroom, please let a facilitator know.

  8. Do not bring any outside substances into the space. (Absolutely no alcohol, vaping devices, cigarettes, cannabis, etc.) This is a time to sit solely with Huachuma and learn from this sacred plant. However, you are permitted to bring pure tobacco/cigars if you so choose.

  9. For the duration of the ceremony, you will be asked to hand over your car keys for your own safety. We also ask for phones to be off and stored away.

  10. The ceremony space is sacred. Just remember to conduct yourself in a way that honors the sacredness and power of the space you will be a part of. True freedom is found in balance, honor, and integrity. We ask you as a part of our family to uphold that.

Suggestions / Recommendations

  1. We have the utmost faith and trust in you and will leave you to your own devices when you may appear to be going through a process; yet if at any point you need assistance please do not hesitate to ask. We are here for you.

  2. Please refrain from eating at least 12 hours before the ceremony. This is not a requirement but a suggestion based on how the medicine is metabolized in the body.

  3. Do not be afraid to show emotion. Feel free to laugh, to dance, to cry. It is only when your actions/emotions begin to have a noticeable effect on the space and others around you that you will be approached by a facilitator.

  4. We will offer medicine twice throughout the duration of the ceremony and it is recommended that you take the amount that correlates with how deep you are feeling you would like to experience the medicine. Only accept what you feel comfortable taking. We do have a max dosage that we permit for each ceremony but you as the participant are free to choose how much you want to ingest in relation to the maximum amount offered.

  5. You are free to dress however is most comfortable for you. Please just be considerate of the space and others around you. If you have to ask if something is appropriate to wear…it probably isn’t. Be cognizant of weather/temperature changes throughout the duration of a 12-16 hour ceremony and pack accordingly.

  6. Please bring water and remember to drink it. You will be expending a lot of energy and while in ceremony with Huachuma it is common to become very dehydrated. Feel free to bring electrolytes with you. Your health before, during, and after the ceremony is vital to us.
